Six More Months of Shuffle and Change

The last post I wrote was July 2018. We were settling into routine, finding a groove, and trying to fit our family of five into a two-bedroom-pretending-to-be-three-bedroom-townhouse-with-frustrating-layout-and-high-rent.

I spent much of the first half of 2018 house hunting. We had looked at renting a bigger place, but as the cost on that would have been about $500 more per month if we got lucky (possibly more like $700-$800), we wound up looking to buy a home instead. Which wasn't much easier to find something in our price range and with what we desired--and I promise, we weren't asking for anything huge or crazy!

However, after months of searching, dragging the poor children with me at odd times to this house and that (Z-man still asks occasionally, when we drive by a house he decides he likes, if we can call Mr. Ken--our realtor--and look inside! Doesn't matter if the house is actually for sale or not; Mr. Ken has the magic key!), we finally found a little house in our price range with the space we needed and  a family willing to accept our offer (in fact willing to give us a break and accept our offer when a higher offer was on the table--that was a God-moment right there!).

So, August brought

- Blueberry's eighth birthday
- Ell's first birthday
- Chris' 40th birthday
- Charlotte starting ballet back up again
- Several sets of guests
- And a bid and accepted offer on a house with all the headache and insanity that brings with it.

September brought packing, paperwork, money, more packing, and finally our moving day.

And so the rest of 2018 kind of felt like we had returned to where we were at around that same time in 2017! Minus the newborn and knowing at least a few more people and having a slightly better feel for the area:

- Unpacking
- Settling
- Learning the area (because we're now on the exact opposite end of town, and let me tell you, it's really thrown my driving for a loop!)
- Trying to keep up school in the midst of the insanity
- And a continuation of growing in relationships and our involvement in community here

I'm excited to see where 2019 takes us, and hope I can share snapshots of our journey with you.
